San Antonio Stock Show

Sorry it's taken me so long to post about our trip to the San Antonio Stock Show. Both the kids showed on Tuesday. Which meant that Sunday was busy with all the preparations of the lambs. The lambs have to be washed (twice to get all the dirt out of their wool), blow dried, sheared, then since we have washed all the natural moisturizers off their wool/skin they need to have moisturizers put on. Then when all that is done we put blanket/covers on them and lock them in the trailer and tell them if they get dirty they'll be lambchops. ha ha

We left San Angelo at 5:59 am on Monday morning for the drive down to SA. We got there in time to "sit" in line to unload. We were finally able to unload at the barn around 11 am. We weighed the lambs and turned in their weights to the officials so they could be put in the correct weight class.
Here Nolan is Tuesday morning waiting to show. His southdown suprised us by not getting a second look from the judge. Nolan showed GREAT, but in the end....he was sent to the truck. We were disappointed.

As you can see, Nolan showed his heart out. He had his lamb set up perfectly. That's the life in the show ring. Some days you get a pull and some days you don't.
Karli's cross was up later in the day. We were a little worried because this cross had a really dark face and might be "classed out" as being too much of a medium wool. So when the judge motioned for Karli to move on to the next round Ron and I held our breath. This was Karli's first "pull" in a major stock show. The excitement showed on her face as she walked her lamb over to the classifiers.
Here she is being classified. The lamb classed as a cross, so she got to show her lamb in next round. She finished 10th in her class, 2 places out of the money. We were all happy with her success.
We now have San Angelo Stock Show next.
